SEAL MN Survey – Community of Practice

Dear Stakeholders,
Thank you for your participation in SEAL MN, Minnesota’s network of School Sealant Program providers and partners .

As you know, the MDH Oral Health Program historically hosts a Sealant Forum for members to engage with each other in networking and sharing best practices. Although we have not been able to meet in the traditional sense, we are so grateful for partners who continue to stay interested and engaged in this work.  Based on your involvement and feedback, as well as the changes the past year has brought us, the Oral Health Program is pleased to offer the following ways to get involved in SEAL MN.

Community of Practice
In order to support collaboration and provide members a networking opportunity, SEAL MN will be piloting a Community of Practice in 2021.  This is a proposed informal, bi-monthly or quarterly meeting to discuss topics of common interest for the School Sealant Program providers. Participants can attend as they are able—the only commitment is that participants be ready to share their successes and challenges around the topic they attend.

Advisory Committees
To best leverage our collective expertise , SEAL MN will reactivate former work groups in the form of Advisory Committees. These committees will convene   to provide technical guidance and direction on different statewide projects ,including updating statewide sealant plan, creating a school communications toolkit identifying best practices and in developing a  data collection and sharing system for the availability of consistent and comparable data across providers. Advisory Committees will meet at least once a quarter until the project is completed, or more frequently depending on advisor interest and project needs.

Sealant Forum
Although it will look different this year, the Annual Sealant Forum will be held in the second half of the year.

SEAL MN Grants
SEAL MN will continue to offer grant funds of up to $5,000 to support school sealant program providers in delivering sealants and education in school-based or school-linked settings. The 2021 grant cycle is now underway. Applications for the 2022 cycle will be open late 2021.  Please fill out following survey to help us develop activities that will meet your needs and interests.
