The 2021 Learning Days conference was a one day, free, completely virtual event. Attendance was strong and participant feedback has been quite positive. As we look toward 2022, we need to decide whether to return to an in-person event or continue with a virtual event. Regrettably, a hybrid model is cost prohibitive, and we are unable to offer the event for free.
- In person pros: networking, networking, networking; nice to get out of the office; opportunity for more interactive sessions and workshops
- In person cons: travel can add time and expense; must travel to conference to receive attendance certification that can be submitted for CEU credit; greater complexity in planning
- Virtual pros: easier access for participants and speakers; flexible schedule for those who can only attend for part of the day; post conference access to recorded sessions with attendance certification that can be submitted for CEU credit; less complexity in terms of planning
- Virtual cons: not as conducive to networking; participant engagement is more challenging; distractions common to the virtual world; potential technical problems
