Minnesota Alternatives, leave by 10:10 for START at 10:30, 7766 MN-65, Spring Lake Park (access from Taylor Street NE). Provides adult outpatient treatment services for substance use disorders (and co-occurring mental health diagnosis). The program uses person-centered principles and participants define their own vision of recovery. Minnesota Alternatives provides clients with free healthy lunches, rides to the local food shelf as needed and has partnered with SHIP on SNAP-Rx (among other initiatives). The agency conducted an in-person staff training on SNAP-Rx in late summer 2019 and plans to update their EMR with screening questions by the end of 2019. ***SHIP grantees attending this site visit are required to leave for the site visit by 10:10 a.m. (site visit starts at 10:30 a.m.) to accommodate clinic availability. http://mnalternatives.com/
Northern Anoka County Emergency Food Shelf (NACE), 11:00-11:45, leave by 10:45, 18511 Hwy 65 NE, Suite 200, East Bethel. The primary food shelf serving northern Anoka County residents, NACE is a large food shelf with a multitude of projects and community events such as ‘Must Go Thursdays’ where community members in need can come to pick up additional produce before the weekend. Additionally, they have emergency boxes that can be picked up after hours and at local churches along with many more events and specialty items you will learn about on the tour. http://www.nacefoodshelf.org/foodshelf.html
St. Philips Lutheran Church Food and Clothing Shelf, 11:00-11:45, leave by 10:45, 6180 Highway 65 NE, Fridley. A well-organized and moderately sized food shelf that has partnered with SHIP. If you’re looking to experience and learn more about partnering with a relatively new food shelf this is the tour for you.
