Pharmacy Registration or Removal: Syringe Access Initiative
Background/Provisions
The 1997 Minnesota Legislature passed an act permitting the sale and possession of up to ten syringes without a medical prescription. The primary goal of this legislation, which took effect July 1, 1998, is to reduce the transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis C (HCV) among people who inject drugs.
