On October 25, 2022, the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners adopted Ordinance 2022-07 to license and regulate Short-Term Rentals in the County. Short-term rentals (STR) are defined in the ordinance as a dwelling or a portion thereof that is rented for periods less than thirty (30) consecutive days. STRs in Santa Fe County are required to pay lodgers’ and gross receipts tax on rental revenue.

STRs are usually furnished apartments, condos, houses or casitas (or a room for rent in the same) rented for short periods of time and often seen as an alternative to hotels. Popular use includes vacation rentals offered by private owners and investors via online platforms such as Airbnb.

The purpose of this survey is to collect input from Santa Fe County residents about the impact of short-term rentals on your community.
